Description
Buckthorn bark contains anthraglycosides, resinous and tannins, vitamin C, minerals: magnesium, boron, manganese, calcium; coumarin pectin, acids, alkaloids. The main active component of buckthorn bark is frangulin.
Buckthorn bark preparations have mild laxative, wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, astringent and bactericidal properties, eliminate spasms and relax the smooth muscles of internal organs.
Buckthorn bark is used to regulate intestinal activity in hemorrhoids and anal fissures. Buckthorn bark has a positive effect on intestinal microflora, destroying streptococci, staphylococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli.
